Bahar & Nilou’s Story
Bahar was a devoted mother, a skilled physician, and a kind-hearted person. With no family history of cancer or diabetes, and a healthy, active lifestyle, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer at age 66.

Call it coincidence or miracle, Nilou was already part of the pancreatic cancer research team at the University of British Columbia and understood the value of tumour genomic profiling for cancer patients. Yet months passed, and Bahar’s oncology team never mentioned this option as they began treatment without hope.
Benefits of testing for Bahar:
1. There may be new FDA-approved targeted therapy available.
2. Certain drugs may negatively impact treatment journey.

A doctor’s journey is one of endless learning, and research is a path that stretches on, until every cure reaches every patient, with equity, dignity, and access for all.
